Registration Frequently Asked Questions

I'm already registered. How do I add a workshop, tour, or other special activity?

Contact the URMIA Office with the activity(ies) you want to add to your registration. We will update your registration and send you an invoice for the addition(s).

I see an empty/white screen while trying to register. What should I do?

Please try this alternate approach. Log out of the URMIA website. Go to this alternate registration page and follow the instructions for opening a private/incognito/inprivate window that should enable you to register.

Since I work at an institution I want to take advantage of the special May rate, but I can't pay until next fiscal year that starts in July. Is that possible?

Yes! Your rate is based on the date that you register and won't change regardless of when you pay. Register in May to save the most money and choose "Pay Later" on the checkout screen. You can then pay the invoice in July once your new fiscal year starts.

What does the in-person conference include?

Our program offers keynote and general sessions, breakout sessions (60-minute presentations), an expanded breakout session (90-minute activity), and various flash sessions (30-minute presentations). The full conference registration fee includes the opening and closing events, three breakfasts, and two lunches. Additional fees are required for optional Pre- and post-conference workshops, tours, etc.

Networking opportunities that are part of the registration fee include a Newcomers Welcome & Orientation, roundtable discussions, formal and fun functions, URMIAcares community service projects, and the URMIA annual awards presentations.

In addition to the many informal networking spots around the conference hotel, we will offer an URMIA Community space where attendees can meet, mingle, and take part in some interactive activities. Attendees will once again be able to engage with their URMIA community and friends as they have done for 55+ years.

I need to register a group for the conference. How do I do that?

The simple answer is, you cannot register a group. Each individual must register independently. This ensures we get the correct information about emergency contacts and dietary/special accommodation needs. If an attendee doesn't have an URMIA account, they should create an account first and then register for the conference after logging into that new account.

Our institution/company is a member of URMIA. Why am I not getting the member registration rate?

Each individual registering for the conference has to be a member of URMIA, meaning each individual has to be on the institution's/company's URMIA member roster to qualify for the member rate. If you want to explore becoming a member of your institution's/company's URMIA roster, please contact the URMIA office. Additional fees may apply.

I registered to attend the conference virtually and I'm the one who paid for the registration. How do I invite my four colleagues to register for free as part of my registration?

Shortly after your conference registration invoice is PAID, you will receive an email with a code that you may pass along to as many as four (4) colleagues. They will each then need to register themselves for the conference, creating an account if necessary and entering the provided code at checkout that will discount their virtual registration to $0.

What is URMIA's refund policy?

If your registration is for the in-person full conference experience and you are unexpectedly unable to attend in person, we can convert your registration to a virtual experience. Likewise, there are no refunds of registration fees for the Real-Time Virtual Experience. Substitutions are encouraged in either case. Please refer to our Registration Policies agreed to during the registration process.

I need to register a guest for the conference. How do I do that?

Guest registrations are available including the Spouse/Family/Partner/Guest tour package. Please register yourself and then go back and register your guest through the same registration link. A guest is defined as a spouse or significant other, friend, or relative who is not a member of URMIA, is not qualified to become a member, is not your co-worker, and does not enjoy a higher education-related risk management occupation (including for-profit companies that serve higher education). If you have questions, please contact us.

A guest's package includes the opening event, Tuesday luncheon, and closing events. You can also register a guest and only do the opening or closing event, along with additional activities. Registrants must be at least 21 years old.
